I've been cross stitching since I was about 15. I enjoy it but I find it difficult to do sometimes, like when the cats are busy trying to chase the needle as it goes up and down, in and out or when someone tries to run off with my skeins of thread. I start many more projects than I finish and a lot of what I finish gets given away as gifts. A word of warning: This may sound like a "DUH!" kind of thing to say but please make sure you keep all your stitching supplies AWAY from the cats! Chester had an incident with a sewing needle and thread a some years back. He was coughing, almost like he had a hairball but then he started coughing up bloody foam. We rushed him to the emergency vet clinic (of course this was on a Sunday night) and the vet removed a needle (a sharp sewing one, not a blunt cross stitching one) and thread from the very back of Chester's throat. Thank goodness it got stuck where it did because he could have died if it had gotten down into his intestines. The first 4 links are to pictures of projects I've completed. The rest are pattern resources. Happy Stitching! A picture of one of my projects I actually completed! This darling little tabby pillow is small -- the finished project was probably about 4 inches long. I made this for a very close friend of mine for either Christmas or her birthday. Two tabbies and.... a chintz cat? I love the simplicity of this design. Here's a combo during/what it looked like in the project book shot. I did eventually finish this and give it to someone as a gift. I really like this style of cat - it reminds me of the cat from those Chat Noir posters. Great resource - examples of different stitches, projects, tips, patterns (even free ones!) You can check out her patterns on the link provided to her shop on Etsy. There are a few free cat patterns here, one of which is a rather cool looking blackwork Christmas cat. These charts need to be viewed using the Pattern Maker software. This site has a section of pretty cool fantasy cat designs. |
